Using a script or add-on that scans GameFAQs for box and screen images (such as an emulator front-end), while overloading our search engine. There is no official GameFAQs app, and we do not support nor have any contact with the makers of these unofficial apps. Continued use of these apps may cause your IP to be blocked indefinitely. This triggers our anti-spambot measures, which are designed to stop automated systems from flooding the site with traffic. Some unofficial phone apps appear to be using GameFAQs as a back-end, but they do not behave like a real web browser does.Using GameFAQs regularly with these browsers can cause temporary and even permanent IP blocks due to these additional requests. If you are using Maxthon or Brave as a browser, or have installed the Ghostery add-on, you should know that these programs send extra traffic to our servers for every page on the site that you browse. The most common causes of this issue are: Nobody wants to pay $45 or more and be banned for something they didn't do.Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. You're hurting your playerbase with this practice, especially now that people are calling you out on it, people may read it before buying EFT and change their minds. That's not the mindset of someone who knows why they were banned.īut let's backtrack because I just want to mention there is still little reason to not do the industry standard and close the program while it detects CE or only ban when CE is manipulating your game. I don't see anyone doing that, I just see them rebuying the game after doing some research into why they got banned (nobody should have to do research into why they were banned) and warning other people who might not know. To say everyone saying they were falsely banned at this point is just sad. You're trying to tell us that 99% of users banned with CE are extremely well versed in how a game runs? Anyone who actually cheats isn't going to try and use CE, they're going to buy their cheats from people who make them using more complex software than CE which your AC probably can't even detect. Multiplayer games serverside just about everything so the average person cannot use a simple memory editor. It has a huge number of non-cheating uses, but more importantly is rarely used to cheat in online games by the average cheater who doesn't understand the transfer and manipulation of packets through memory editing, which is a complicated process. In which case, there is no way you could possibly know if someone was trying to cheat with it or not.Īnd I don't believe for a second 99% of people banned for having CE open in the background were trying to cheat with it, even if you could know. Just tell them that Cheat Engine will cause you to be banned and it will not be overturned.Ĭonsidering you just admitted your AC bans regardless of whether or not CE is hooked into EFT, it's likely your AC doesn't even check if it is. Its OK to not believe someone who says they were not cheating who got banned but it is not OK to be an asshole to them. 400 bans, rookie numbers to a company like Valve and CS:GO, caused a community uproar and thousands of players were siding with cheaters until the truth was revealed. The devs came out and said that they manually banned 400 people for cheating. Shadowplay, OBS, overlay hook software etc. After a few days of madness of people believing there was something running on their computers that were not cheats that were causing the bans. This Valve dev went through a number of demos and checked the records on their VAC bans and called them out and proved they were in fact cheating.Īnother situation happened in Destiny 2 where posts of false bans were getting thousands of upvotes and people were thinking it was random. This happened in CS:GO where one of the Valve devs became active on the topic of cheating because a large number of people were claiming false bans and the community was starting to side with the cheaters. I am 100% sure some of the posts of people being banned for using Cheat Engine were in fact using cheats that were detected. It's also worth noting that any time any person who is banned is shown any kind of leniency by the developers that cheaters will come out of the woodwork claiming the same situation.
